How it works

Everything you need to run a great quiz competition — from setup to the Grand Final.

What is the Intellect Grand Prix?

The Intellect Grand Prix is a live, competitive quiz game designed for classrooms and events. Teams buzz in to answer questions in real time, scored on a large-screen display while a host controls the flow from their own device — like a TV game show, no studio required.

Real-time Buzz In
Teams race to press the buzz button first. The server locks out all other teams the instant someone buzzes.
🏆
Team Scoring
Points are awarded for correct answers after a buzz. Wrong answers or skipped questions cost nothing.
📺
Spectator Screen
A dedicated read-only view shows the live game state — perfect on a projector while teams play on their phones.
🎵
Cinematic Sounds
Synthesised sound effects create a TV game show atmosphere for every phase of the game — no audio files required.

Running a Competition

A competition is a single quiz match between two or more teams. Follow these steps to go from setup to game over.

  1. 1
    Create a Quiz
Go to the Quizzes tab, create a quiz, and add your questions with four options each.
  2. 2
    Create Teams
Go to the Teams tab and add the competing teams. You can bulk-create teams like Team 1–8 or add individuals.
  3. 3
    Create a Competition
Go to Competitions, give it a title, choose a Display Mode, and click Create.
  4. 4
    Assign Teams & Quiz
In the competition detail panel, assign teams (minimum 2) and select the quiz to use.
  5. 5
    Launch
Click "Launch Game". The game lobby opens — share the 6-digit PIN with players so they can join.
  6. 6
    Start the Game
Once players have selected their teams, click Start. Questions begin immediately.
  7. 7
    Control the Flow
After each buzz, reveal the answer. Use Skip if no one answers. End the game when questions run out or at any time.

Display Modes

Each competition has a display mode that adjusts colours, font sizes, and corner radii to suit different audiences.

Adults
Dark purple palette, sharp corners, compact text. Suited for adult participants and formal events.
Teens
Cyan accent on deep navy, slightly larger text, tighter radius. Energetic but clean.
Kids
Gold & amber accent, large rounded corners, bigger fonts. High contrast, easy to read at a glance.

Tournament Mode

Tournaments organise multiple teams into a knock-out bracket — group stage through to the Grand Final. Each match is an independent competition.

  1. 1
    Create a Tournament
Go to Tournaments, set the team count (must be a power of 2), and create it.
  2. 2
    Assign Teams
From the tournament page, assign teams to all bracket slots.
  3. 3
    Assign Quizzes
Each match can have its own quiz, or you can reuse one across the bracket.
  4. 4
    Launch Matches
Launch each match when its teams are ready. A competition is auto-created for that match.
  5. 5
    Record Results
When the match competition ends, the winner advances automatically in the bracket.
  6. 6
    Progress to the Final
Repeat until the Grand Final. The champion is recorded on the tournament page.

Joining as a Player

Players don't need an account. They join using the 6-digit PIN shown on the game screen or shared by the host.

  1. 1
    Get the PIN
Ask the host or read the PIN displayed on the spectator screen.
  2. 2
    Go to /join
Open the app in your browser and navigate to the home page, then enter the PIN — or go directly to /join.
  3. 3
    Select your team
Pick your team from the list. Each device should join as a different team.
  4. 4
    Buzz in!
When a question appears, tap the buzz button as fast as possible. Then select your answer.
TIPOpen Spectator Mode on a projector or TV so everyone in the room can watch the live game screen without joining.
